Experienced Vet providing at-home euthanasia for Dogs & Cats across Durham and the North East.

Our Inspiration

The idea behind Faithful Friends Mobile Vet Ltd started in September 2020 when we lost our beloved family Great Dane, Phoebe. We would always joke that Phoebe was a human trapped inside a dogs body – I’m sure she was far more intelligent than me! She was always the sunshine on a stormy day, a constant source of joy and laughter, and a soul I felt bonded to with love only an animal-lover can understand.

When we noticed that Phoebes quality of life was deteriorating, we sat down as a family and made the most heartbreaking decision to say goodbye.

As a vet knowing what was involved, down to every finite detail, I remember feeling hollow, overcome with dread at the thought of letting her go.

September 2020 was in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, in which many families were required to say goodbye to their beloved pets whilst maintaining social distancing, and restricted loved ones present.

Being a vet myself, I was very fortunate that I was able to euthanise Phoebe at home, laid on her sofa, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. I miss her so deeply everyday, but I could not have imagined saying goodbye to Phoebe in any other way. I therefore knew that I needed to strive towards offering a service to other families, so that they can say goodbye to their beloved faithful friends in the comfort of their own home.

I have gained years of experience working in small animal practices across County Durham, providing care in emergency settings, general and charity practices. Over that time, I have had the privilege of being there to comfort and support families as they say goodbye to their pets from all corners of the North East and I am so grateful that I can now pursue my passion to offer compassionate, peaceful home euthanasia, ensuring that our beloved faithful friends receive only the best care at the end.
